From small acorns, big oak trees grow…

Lydford is a small village between Tavistock and Okehampton, on the edge of Dartmoor, with a population of around 400 people. And yet, week in, week out, around 100 children turn up to train and play for the Lydford Foxes.

In more ways than one, we’re a small club punching above our weight. In 2017, we were elected into the Devon Junior & Minor League and became affiliated with the Devon FA. In 2018, we achieved the FA Charter Standard Club status.

We’ve come a long way in a short space of time. We train every Tuesday evening, playing matches on Saturday, with opportunities for all, regardless of ability.

For us, the right attitude, spirit and a willingness to learn are as important as skill. Bring the ambition, we’ll provide the platform. Our boys and girls are aged 7 to 15, each one playing with a smile on their face.

If you like the sound of A Family Club – the AFC in Lydford Foxes AFC – talk to us today. We have entered FIVE teams in the 2019-2020 Adrenalin Devon Junior & Minor League – U10s, U12s, U13s, U14s and U15s – with the aim of adding more in the future. We’ve also launched the Cubs for Foxes of tomorrow aged up to 8.

If you fancy becoming a Fox, get in touch today! See you on the pitch. Come on you Foxes!

Club ethos

We’re proud to be different. We are a new and small club, established in 2016 from a few lads and dads kicking a ball about on a regular basis. Now, we are participating in our third competitive season in the Adrenalin Devon Junior and Minor League (DJML)  and have Under 10s, Under 12s, Under 13s, Under 14s and Under 15 teams.

Our aim is to provide youth football for any child, regardless of ability, from ages 7 to 15. We believe that we provide all the fun, support, spirit and skills needed to play football in a smaller, close-knit, friendly environment.

Everyone should have the opportunity to play football and participate in matches – competitive or non-competitive – while having fun and remaining proud to be part of a team.

Football is not about the winning, it is about making new friends in a safe and secure village environment where you keep smiling regardless of the result. Our players are given the opportunity to develop skills and the necessary time to learn new ones, through quality coaching and long-term development.

We are proud to have use of our own ground for matches, along with a first-class training facility at a nearby all-weather facility. Time, money and support from all our parents are always forthcoming and we are beginning to get a name for having the best pitch-side hospitality in the league!

We are not just a football club, but a community too. It’s in our name and our DNA: Lydford Foxes AFC – A Family Club.
