The wait is nearly over… the Lydford Foxes 5-a-side tournament takes place this weekend.
Word travels fast in Lydford, so we know some of you are aware of the teams. For those of you left in blissful ignorance, these are the four teams that will run out onto the hallowed turf of the Lydford Sports Field.
If, for any reason, you can no longer make the tournament, please let us know ASAP.
Reminder: the tournament kicks off at 10am on Saturday 3rd December, and we expect to be finished by 1.30pm. All teams are guaranteed four matches.
We shall be at the Sports Field from 9am, so if any child wants to arrive early to kick a ball about or discuss tactics with their fellow teammates, that is fine.
Trophies and medals will be awarded for the tournament winners, player of the year, players’ player of the year, goal of the season and most improved player.
Rumour has it there will be teas, coffees, minced pies, cakes and even mulled wine being served from the pavilion.
We invite mums, dads, brothers and sisters to attend the inaugural Lydford Foxes football tournament. The lads have improved immeasurably over recent months, and it would be good if they could showcase these skills to a capacity crowd. To-date, our record attendance was four adults and a dog.
We’d also like to remind you that this weekend is the final Lydford Foxes session of the year. The children deserve a break and the pitch needs a rest. We’ll reconvene in 2017.
Hope to see as many as you as possible on Saturday morning. The weather is looking fine, which is all we can hope for in Lydford.
